Privacy Policy
This policy explains what HighShot collects, what stays on your device, and how we handle information on our website.
Last updated:
Overview
HighShot is a Chrome extension and website (highshot.app) for annotating pages, blurring sensitive content, and taking screenshots. We design the product so your markup and captures can stay on your device. We collect only what we need to run the site, support, trials, and licenses.
Chrome extension
Markup (highlights, pen strokes, shapes, blur regions, notes), preferences, and related session data are stored locally in your browser using Chrome storage APIs. Screenshots you capture are generated on your device; we do not upload page content or captures to HighShot servers as part of normal markup or capture. The extension may contact our license or trial services to check entitlement, and may contact Dodo Payments to validate or activate a license key. Page content you annotate is not sold or used for advertising.
Website (highshot.app)
If you subscribe to the newsletter, submit the contact form, request a license reminder, or apply for affiliate or press access, we process the information you provide (such as name, email, and message). Trial activation may use an install identifier so we can stamp a trial window. We use this information to respond, operate the product, and improve the site — not to sell your personal data.
Payments and licenses
Lifetime License purchases are processed by Dodo Payments. Payment details are handled by Dodo under their privacy practices. We may receive license and purchase-related information needed to activate keys, enforce activation limits, and support forgotten-key requests.
Retention
Local extension data remains until you clear it, uninstall the extension, or clear browser storage. Website and support records are kept as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, or resolve disputes, then deleted or anonymized when no longer required.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information we process. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use strong passwords on related accounts and keep your license key private.
Your choices and rights
You can clear extension data via Chrome settings or by uninstalling HighShot. You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold about you on the website by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law; we will respond according to applicable requirements.
Children
HighShot is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of HighShot or the website after an update means you accept the revised policy.
